A practical example of efficiency, consistency, and time-to-market in product communication
PFENNIG Reinigungstechnik has been successfully using NovaDB PIM for some time to centrally manage its product data. As part of a further development phase, the solution has now been specifically extended: today, the creation of comprehensive product catalogs is fully automated—directly from the PIM system. This project demonstrates how existing structures can be efficiently expanded and new high-value use cases unlocked.
Initial Situation and Objectives
Before the introduction of the automated solution, the extensive product catalog—around 200 pages—was manually typeset in Adobe InDesign. Any changes to product data or layouts required time-consuming adjustments and repeated coordination between product management, marketing, and design teams.
The goals of the further development were to drastically reduce the manual workload in catalog production, eliminate media discontinuities, and simplify updates. At the same time, layout specifications had to remain flexible, and international marketing efforts needed to be supported through language-specific catalog versions for German-, English-, and French-speaking markets.
Expansion of NovaDB PIM Usage – Key Functions at a Glance
Drag-and-Drop Catalog Structure
Catalog structure can be created intuitively using drag-and-drop directly within the system—without complex configurations. Marketing and product teams can arrange chapters, editorial pages, and product blocks with ease, without requiring technical knowledge or external layout tools. The user-friendly interface accelerates structuring and promotes the autonomy of the departments.
Dynamic Layouts via Templates
Form-based layout templates are available for designing editorial and thematic pages. Users select a suitable format from predefined templates and input content in a structured manner. This ensures consistent design while maintaining flexibility for various marketing needs.
